About AIR Frosterus
Air Frosterus provides artists time and peace to focus on their work. The historical residency building and the beautiful location allow guests to get inspired by Finnish nature and the four seasons. The organization behind the residence is Kattilakoski culture cooperative which is a nonprofit local cultural organization.
Four residencies for individual artists or couples are available at once. Our spacious residence allows artists to choose if they want to concentrate on their own work or to collaborate with one another. All visiting artists have a private bedroom/study and the possibility to have their own studio for the period of their stay. The in-house shared studio and common areas allow artists to meet each other, collaborate and get inspired by the work of others.
Sauna, silence and a peaceful pace of life are all part of the local culture. However residents of Kärsämäki are very active in organizing events and they have a small town do-it-yourself-attitude. The hosting organization being highly active in the cultural scene of Kärsämäki, residency artists have a front seat view to the local cultural life. Residency artists have a possibility to teach workshops or develop community projects. A possibility to arrange an exhibition in a local art gallery is also provided.
The rent of the residency for the rest of the year 2017 is 190 eur/ month/ individual artist (normally 290 eur) and 290 eur/ month / artist couple (normally 390 eur). We are a nonprofit organization and the residency fees go directly in to maintaining the historical residency building.
